At the base of the control screw there is a “key” (so described on the Dewalt parts list for the saw) that seems to be pressed into the screw control.

It seems there is no effective connection between the control screw and the motor assembly. So there doesn’t seem to be anything that binds the motor assembly as one sometimes reads in these posts about raising/lower the blade assemble. The bevel gears easily spin the control screw but the motor assembly doesn’t move if I set the table saw up on its legs the motor assembly drops to the bottom. The bevel gears and the control screw that raise/lower the motor assembly are free of dirt and gunk - with the table saw upside down I easily can lift/lower the motor assembly with one hand. When I turn the wheel to adjust the height of the blade it spins freely. This weekend when attempting to raise the blade I heard a noise and although the wheel that controls blade height spins freely nothing happens. I can no longer raise/lower the blade on my Dewalt 7491RS table saw and my research has not turned up any posts about this problem that are similar to mine.
